Matcha Latte

I've been making a daily matcha latte elixir to support my immune health and stress response. This is the exact recipe for the Iced Matcha Latte I’ve been sipping every afternoon. You can also make it hot if you prefer! Either way, it’s a cup full of powerful Food-As-Medicine goodies. Drink up!

But first….a question:

Do you drink a second cup of coffee in the afternoon? Consider swapping it out for a nutrient-rich drink instead.

  1. It's easier on your adrenals + stress response. Since stress suppresses the immune system, we want to keep it to an absolute minimum. Caffeine literally jacks up your cortisol. A cup in the morning is fine for most people, but try not to double down on your coffee intake.⁣ (If you *need* caffeine to keep going, that's a whole other post.)⁣

  2. You can cram in lots of immune-supportive and anti-viral foods & herbs without having to take MORE supplements.⁣

Matcha powder is a natural antiviral⁣ and contains a potent antioxidant called EGCG, which is believed to have cancer-fighting effects on the body. Match also offers up l-theanine, an amino acid that helps you relax AND focus.

Spirulina inhibits viral replication, as does the selenium from the Brazil nuts⁣. Medicinal mushrooms like cordyceps are powerful immune modulators. Zinc and selenium from the pumpkin seeds and Brazil nuts positively affect multiple aspects of the immune system.

MATCHA LATTE INGREDIENT

1/4 cup hot water⁣
1 tsp matcha powder⁣
1 tsp manuka honey⁣
1 tsp mushroom powder*⁣
1/4 tsp spirulina*⁣
Pinch sea salt⁣
1 cup nut milk or Homemade Brazil Nut/Pepita Mylk (see DIY video below)

*Optional - I like to add for a nutrient boost. The spirulina makes it extra green and pretty.⁣

INSTRUCTIONS

⁣Whisk matcha powder into hot water. Whisk in stir honey to melt, then stir in remaining powders. Combine with nut milk and serve over ice.⁣

⁣If you want to make it hot, warm up the milk and don’t serve over ice.
