Diets Don't Work
2 stupid things I've done in a sleep-deprived state:
2. Tried to put myself on a diet.
I KNOW.
In my defense, I was 3 or 4 months postpartum and a little cray-cray.
I had just gone through something pretty wild, my body no longer belonged to me, and there were a lot of things going on in my life that were beyond my control. So managing my food was an attempt to take back that control.
I recorded everything I ate in an online tracker because I "just wanted to see" (AKA psychotically overanalyze) what I was eating.
This lasted all of 2.75 days.
It took less than 3 days for me to become a crazy person and start craving all the foods I deemed "off limits" and all sorts of food I wouldn't normally eat.
It took less than 3 days for my brain to say, NOPE, sorry. Not enough space in here to be thinking about food all day. It took less than 3 days to realize, OH YEAH. This is why I swore off calorie-counting years ago. This is why I don't diet.
It took less than 3 days for me to see that it wasn't really weight loss I was after, but something else. I'm 8 months out now and pretty much at my pre-pregnancy weight (although things are a wee smidge different). But I didn't get here by restricting food, obsessing over calories or dieting.
Because DIETS DON'T WORK for long-term, sustainable weight loss.
We all know that to be true, right...?
If diets worked, we'd all be walking around in our ideal bodies. If diets worked, "struggling with weight" wouldn't be a thing. If diets worked, we wouldn't all have a stack of diet books stashed somewhere.
Weight loss is about MORE THAN JUST THE FOOD.
If you've been running on the diet hamster wheel, then you may want to try my Eat to Achieve nutrition program. We talk about food, YES. But we also talk about so much more than that.
