Simmer Pot

This months’ recipe is a little different - rather than sharing an edible recipe, I wanted to share one of my favorite ways to make the home smell good during the winter months - a simmer pot.

Simmer pots are such a simple and natural way to elevate any holiday gathering. An added perk is that there are no synthetic fragrances or chemicals involved!

INGREDIENTS

For this simmer pot I used the following, but you can use whatever mixture of fruit and spices you like:

  • 2 oranges, sliced into ½” thick rounds

  • 1/2 cup of cranberries

  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 4-5 cups of water

Some other combos to consider:

  • Lemon and apple slices, cinnamon sticks and bay leaves

  • Orange and apple slices, cranberries and cloves

  • Lemon slices, lime slices and fresh rosemary

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring this mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. If needed, add more water throughout the day.
